National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA) for candidates seeking admission to undergraduate programmes in Architecture (5-year BArch). Candidates will have the choice of appearing in one or all exams.

NATA Syllabus
Part A - Drawing and Composition Test
- A1 - Composition and Colour Test - Creating suitable compositions for various situations and colouring them appropriately. Re-arranging various shapes in a visually appealing manner and colouring it suitably.
- A2 - Sketching and Composition (Black and White) - Ability to draw, visualize, and depict a situation, involving buildings/its components, people, environment, products with an understanding of scale, proportions, textures, shades and shadow etc.
- A3 - 3D Composition - Creating interesting 3D compositions for the given situation using the provided kit.
Part B - MCQs
- Visual Reasoning - Ability to understand and reconstruct 2D and 3D composition, knowledge about its composition and technical concepts.
- Logical Derivation - Ability to decode a situation, composition, context and generate meaning. Understanding the minute information hidden in a particular situation and concluding.
- G.K. Architecture & Design - General awareness of architecture and design, current issues, recent episodes etc., Knowledge about important buildings, historical progression, innovation in materials and construction technology.
- Language Interpretation - Ability to correctly & logically generate the meaning of words, and sentences, and understand English grammar.
- Design Sensitivity - Ability to observe record and analyze, people, space, products, and environment. Critical thinking, reasoning and ability to identify subtle communications.
- Design Thinking - Ability to understand semantics, metaphors, problem identification and definition, and analysis of a given situation.
- Numerical Ability - Basic Mathematics and its association with creative thinking. To unfold a space with use of geometry.
NATA Eligibility
The CoA has revised the NATA eligibility criteria 2025. Every candidate must fulfil the NATA eligibility criteria before filling out the application form:
- Age Limit: There is no age limit to apply for NATA 2025.
- Subjects in Class 12: Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with either Chemistry or Biology or Technical Vocational subjects or Computer Science or Information Technology or Informatics Practices or Engineering Graphics or Business Studies.
- Qualifications: The candidates must have passed the 12th-level examination from a recognised board.
- Marks: Candidates must have scored at least 45% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination.
Diploma Holders: Candidates should have passed the 10+3 diploma examination with Mathematics as a compulsory subject with at least 45% marks in aggregate.
NATA Exam Pattern
According to the exam pattern of NATA 2025, the entrance examination will be held as a computer-based and offline test for 3 hours. The candidates will have to attempt objective multiple-choice, drawing and composition questions. According to the type of questions, the marks will be allotted. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. The total marks of the NATA 2025 question paper is 200.
