NIFT B.Des & M.Des Eligibility

Candidates who fulfil the following age and education requirements for their course are able to apply to NIFT.

B.Des

Age Limit: 24 years

Education: 10 + 2 pass from any recognized board

B.F.Tech

Age Limit: 24 years

Education: 10 + 2 (with Physics, Chemistry & Maths) from any recognised board

Master Programs

Age Limit: No age limit

M.F.M & M.Des

Education: Undergraduate degree in any discipline

M.F.Tech

Education: B.F.Tech or B.E or B.tech from any recognised university

NIFT Exam Pattern & Criteria

NIFT B.Des Entrance Exam comprises of 2 parts:

NIFT Written Exam: Students are tested on Creative Ability Test (CAT), a 3 hour drawing based paper of 100 marks & General Ability Test (GAT), a 2 hour computer based test of 100 marks. There is a mixture of subjective & objective based questions. CAT section has 50% weightage & GAT section has 30% weightage.

NIFT Situation Test: Students who clear the written exam qualify for the situation test and are required to make a 3D model for 100 marks. The model will be evaluated on space visualization, innovative and creative use of given material, composition of elements, colour scheme, construction skill, finesse of the model and overall presentation etc. Students will need to provide a write-up with this model. Situation Test has 20% weightage.

NIFT B.F.Tech Entrance Exam has only 1 part:

Computer Based Test: Students are required to solve a General Ability Test (GAT), objective type paper. The paper is 3 hours and is scored out of 100 marks.

NIFT M.Des Entrance Exam is similar to the B.Des exam:

NIFT Written Exam: Exam is in same format as B.Des, CAT has 40% weightage & GAT has 30% weightage.

Group Discussion & Personal Interview: This part has a weightage of 30% and explores your unique perspective on design.

M.F.Tech & M.F.M Entrance Exams have 2 phases:

NIFT Written Exam: There is a computer based General Ability Test (GAT) of 100 Marks with a time limit of 3 hours and weightage of 70%.

Group Discussion & Personal Interview: This phase tests students creative style and teamwork ability and has a weightage of 30%.
