UCEED Entrance Exam Notification
Admission to the Bachelor of Design (BDes) programs at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Roorkee, and IIITDM Jabalpur is determined by the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED). Students who passed Class XII (or equivalent) in 2025 or will appear in 2026 in any stream (Science, Commerce, or Arts & Humanities) are eligible to take the UCEED 2026 exam.

UCEED Exam Pattern & Criteria
The UCEED entrance exam is a 3 hour, 300-mark paper that consists of two stages.
Part A: consists of 18 questions of 4 marks each in a Numerical Answer type format (NAT), 18 questions of up to 4 marks each in a Multiple Select Question format (MSQ), and 32 questions of 3 marks each in a Multiple Choice Question format. This section is 2.5 hours long and carries 240 marks.
Part B: This section is worth 30 minutes and 60 points. Part B consists of one drawing-based question.
UCEED Eligibility
Age Limit: The candidate must have been born on or after October 1, 1998 if they fall into the OPEN/EWS/OBC-NCL category, or on or after October 1, 1993 if they fall into the SC, ST, or PwD category.
Number of attempts: A candidate may attempt UCEED a maximum of two times in consecutive years. It should be noted that a UCEED score is only valid for one year and for admissions in the same academic year.
Qualifing Exam: To be eligible to take UCEED 2025, the candidate must have passed all subjects in the qualifying examination (Class XII or equivalent) in 2022 or be taking the qualifying examination for the first time in 2025. Students from all disciplines (science, commerce, and arts & humanities) are eligible.
UCEED Registration Fees
For female candidates and SC, ST, PwD candidates, the registration fee is ₹1900, and for all other candidates, the fee is ₹3800.
Candidates from SAARC countries must pay a fee of US$ $400, and US$ $500 for those from non-SAARC countries.
Documents required for the UCEED Application Process
When completing the application for the UCEED entrance exam, have the following documents on hand:
- A recent passport-sized colour photo.
- A scanned signature on a plain white paper.
- For examinations taken in 2024 or earlier, a qualifying certificate is required.
- Proof of birth, such as a birth certificate, passport, or SSC certificate.

Complete your UCEED registration by following these steps.
- Go to the official exam website.
- Click on the registration link.
- Enter personal details like your name, mobile number, date of birth, and email ID.
- Submit the details entered.
- Note down your application number and password for future use.
- Log back into your account using the application number and password.
- Fill out the application form with all the required details.
- Choose your top three preferred exam cities.
- Upload scanned copies of all necessary documents in the format specified.
- Complete the process by paying the application fee.

UCEED Admission Test Syllabus
The UCEED 2026 Entrance Exam will have the following topics in each section:
Part A:
- Visualization and spatial ability: Pictorial and diagrammatic questions to assess understanding of the transformation and/or manipulation of 2D and 3D shapes and their spatial relationships, as well as knowledge of practical and everyday mechanical and scientific concepts.
- Observation and design sensitivity: The ability to identify and critically evaluate hidden properties in everyday objects, people, situations, and events. Paying attention to specific details, analysing, reasoning, categorising, inferring, and predicting. The ability to recognise subtle differences in visual properties and aesthetic outcomes.
- Environmental and social awareness: A general understanding of environmental factors such as climate, population, water, vegetation, pollution, weather, natural resources, and so on, and how they affect product design, image, infrastructure, and the environment. Awareness of the social and cultural connections to design, the history of the designed artefact, and socially responsible and environmentally sustainable design solutions. History of art, sculpture, and literature.
- Analytical and logical reasoning: The ability to look at information, whether qualitative or quantitative in nature, and identify patterns within it. The ability to evaluate opinions, arguments, or solutions using appropriate criteria. The ability to detect hidden bias or assumptions, as well as whether evidence and arguments support conclusions. The ability to use logic and structured thinking to determine from a short passage which of several statements is the most accurate response to a posed question. Data analysis, brain teasers, and patterns.
- Language and creativity: Skills include reading comprehension and grammar knowledge, as well as the ability to think creatively, distinguish innovative options, and think outside the box.

Yes, in Section A of the exam, there is a penalty for incorrect answers: -1 mark for Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) and -0.71 mark for Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).
